During the summer of 1961, I was 5 yrs old. I had an old handme down 20" 'truck bike' (red, of course, with 2" wide wheels, just great for the dirt trails that the summer community had). Well my parents bought me a toy motorcycle motor that make great motorcycle-like noise. It had a volume control that ran up to the handle bars so that you could increase the sound as you went faster and slower. Being young, I had to stay on our trail, and I went back and forth enough times that the woman at the end of the trail came out and complained at me for making too much noise. I also had baseball trading cards in the spokes of my wheels. I eventually got a minibike with a lawn mower engine that she also complained about a few years later. Back in the city, around the block from where I lived was a HD shop that always had bikes sitting out right on the street. They always had a tricycle out front (I think for parts delivery-maybe I'm confusing it with the trikes(pedal) that the pizza shops had sitting on the streets) and at that time the NYC police also had tricycles (black and white).
I eventually got a '72 Kawasaki 550 that scared the s*&t out of me. Had that for about a year before it was stolen in FL. 20 years after that I got the baby crusier sitting in the garage.
